Long term plan Year 1 and 2 YEAR A 2018-19

This term our topics are ‘London and ‘Space’.

LONDON

Below is our curriculum overview which details our learning in all curriculum areas.

Weekly MEDIUM TERM Plan Spring 1 year A

In the first half term we will be learning all about London. We will begin by learning about our capital city and some of it’s key landmarks. We will link this learning into our story writing focus, Paddington Bear. We will think about the story of Paddington Bear, adapting the characters and the setting to write our own version. We will then learn about some of the historical events that have taken place in London, in particular the Great Fire of London. We will explore the events of 1666, writing diaries inspired by a visit from Samuel Pepys.

After half term, our learning will focus on Space. We will explore fantasy settings and think about stories set in space, working towards writing our own stories. We will also be learning about Neil Armstrong and the history of space exploration. We will make our own mini space rockets and create space art. Our PE focus this half term will be a space academy, learning to travel and explore movement and balance.

This Half term we will also be taking part in Mini MasterChef as well as enjoying reading and science week.
